Latest changes made by the "moderate bloc" to the stimulus bill:

Total Reductions: $80 billion

Head Start, Education for the Disadvantaged, School improvement, Child Nutrition, Firefighters, Transportation Security Administration, Coast Guard, Prisons, COPS Hiring, Violence Against Women, NASA, NSF, Western Area Power Administration, CDC, Food Stamps

Public Transit $3.4 billion, School Construction $60 billion

Defense operations and procurement, STAG Grants, Brownfields, Additional transportation funding

FOOD STAMPS, pretty much the most stimulative form of government spending (it's quick, and virtually all the money enters the economic system instead of sitting under a mattress) gets cut but DEFENSE, which has its own $600 billion bill, gets added?

These people are pretty much pressing for a dystopia. It heightens the contradictions, after all. Dystopias build character. They separate the men from the boys … or the men with connections from the other men, even better.
