Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Years ago, I worried that the constant political pandering to the South meant that the Northeast was sliding into irrelevancy, and that all of our candidates would have to fake riding around in pickup trucks, like Fred Thompson. If the presidential race ends up being Clinton vs. Giuliani vs. Bloomberg, though, I'll admit I was quite wrong.

It would be tough for Giuliani to run on his competency when he's not even the most competent mayor of NYC in the race.

Please tell me you're not saying that Bloomberg is more competent than Giuliani. He really isn't. What has Bloomberg done that is good for the city?

It's not hard.

Ummm

I disagree.

And you didn't answer the question.

Bloomberg's not a messiah, but he's run a tight ship after 9/11, and hasn't created a series of train wrecks, meaningless crusades, and a lifetime history of hatred for the first amendment. When he came in, no one particularly liked him, but he's won a lot of people over.

Eh, Bloomberg hasn't done a good job in my opinion. I have yet to hear anyone say something specific that he has done that has helped the city.

I wouldn't vote for either of them for president.

Then again, I wouldn't vote for Hillary either, so if those three end up being the choices, that would be quite problematic.

I'm not thrilled about any of those three, either.

I've had a lot of dealings with the education side and Klein, and they've done very well by city government standards.

Not sidelining the person who did some of the best things under your administration and then hiring Bernie Kerik for Commissioner kind of wins by default.
